Course Descriptions:
6TH GRADE COURSE DESCRIPTION
COMPUTER EXPLORATION - This course is part of the exploration wheel that 6th grade students are enrolled in. This course focuses on the use of word processing, internet searching and safety, drawing, slide show presentation, report formats and keyboarding skills. This course is a overview of expectations of computers for the classroom teachers.
COMPUTER APPLICATIONS - This course will focus on word processing, spreadsheet, internet research, and presentaion software. The purpose of this course is to provide students with life long skills in technology. Correct keyboarding skills will be emphasized throughout the course.
ADVANCED COMPUTERS - This class will explore and use a variety of computer applications. Students will work on word processing, drawing programs, Internet, computer technology, integrated software and other applications. This class will teach the students how to incorporate the computer into their classes, and how to use the computer more effectively.
MULTIMEDIA WITH COMPUTERS - The focus of this class will be creating different types of multimedia projects. The student will explore and use presentation software, web page creation and video editing. Students will be using the Internet for research for these projects. Internet use will be supervised and correct and afe usage will be stressed.
ADVANCED KEYBOARDING - This class will focus on correct keyboarding skills. The student will explore and use the computer for desktop publishing. Students will use computer applications to learn how to format and create professional style documents. Students will also work at increasing individual typing speed and accuracy throughout the trimester.
