6th graders today is a B day

6th and 7th graders be sure to bring in your order form and money tomorrow for the fundraiser to the following: 6th grade to Block 1-7th grade to 1st hour.

Listen up sports fans!! The annual 8th grade student/staff basketball game is back!! The teachers hold a 4-0 record against the kids. You will get to witness 5 8th grade girls and 5 8th grade boys play a game against your own teachers. The following 8th graders will represent the students: AZ Zinn, Eva Tucker, Jessie Parra, Jessica Silva, Jesse Hopkins, Ty Overboe, Adam Parker, Quin Trujillo, Derek Martinez, and Josh Camerlo. Those ten players need to meet in Coach Laird's room tomorrow during lunch. Please bring your lunch. The game will take place June 3rd after the 6th/7th grade awards ceremony. Thanks a lot and good luck to all who all play. Remember teachers Coach T is no longer here!!

Have you bought at 2007-08 yearbook yet? If you aren't sure, check the order list outside room D101 (Mrs. Hyman's room). If you know you haven't, you can still order a yearbook until May 30th. Pick up a form in the main office and return it to Mrs. Hyman as soon as possible. Remember, yearbook pick up is Monday, June 2nd and you must have your student ID to pick up pre-orders on time!

Attention all students. There will be one more lottery drawing on Friday May 30th. In the main office there are three boxes for you to place your signed warrior bucks. Make sure you sign both your first and last name. We will have three levels of drawings. We will have a candy drawing, gift certificates and the grand prize will be a pass to Water World.

Dear Students-Yes! Our Westlake community has a family of foxes (animals, not people) living on our school grounds. Please do the following:
1. Be aware, messing with wildlife is a felony in Colorado
2. Do not feed them, that is how people get bitten.
3. Avoid them, do not hassle them
4. They are wild animals, not pets.
Please respect their privacy and be kind to them!

Legacy Lightning is looking for tennis players! To help you be ready for next fall, please attend the Spring Camp on Wednesday through Friday, May 14-16 3:30-5:00 on the tennis courts. Cost is $15 and includes a t-shirt. For a registration form, please see Mrs Gonzales in the main office.

6th and 7th graders-Remember to work on your fundraiser over the weekend. . The orders need to be turned into your teacher no later than Wednesday, May 14.

STUDENTS REMINDER ABOUT THE DRESS CODE! Shorts and skirts must be fingertip length when arms are resting at sides. Shirts must cover the shoulders and clothing should fit without exposing undergarments, buttocks, stomach or cleavage. Students in violation will be referred to the office for loaner clothing.

Look within yourself. Find better ways to deal with anger and be happy such as keeping physically active, getting involved in extracurricular activities, developing positive friendships, and talking with an adult.

Collect all the box tops that you find starting May 1 and turn them in to your teacher as follows: 6th grade turn into block 2, 7th grade turn into core class 3, and 8th grade turn into elective 2. The class that collects the most Box Tops and Labels will earn the right to have an ice-cream party. Collection ends on May 31.

NJHS students interested in attending field day at Centennial Elementary on May 30 may pick up permission slips in Mrs. Smith's room any time during the school day. The deadline for turning in permission slips is May 12.

Tomorrow May 6th at lunch, we will be introducing a fundraising project to benefit all of you next fall. We all know how much fun it is to participate in sports and it will be even better with new equipment, uniforms and other extras. We also will be raising money for our HABIC program, which stands for Human and Animal Bond in Colorado, that program pays for the animals that come into our school and spend time with some of our students. Please look for tomorrow's kickoff packet to take home and we will show you the Wheel of Fortune where you can win great prizes.

There was beautiful weather Tuesday evening as the members of the Westlake CHAINS, disc golf club battled it out for the top tags. Tags numbered 1, 2, 4, and 5 were being competed for. Jerod Russell snatched the top tag in a tie with Brody DeBoer. Come on out next Tuesday and join the fun and see who will compete for the number 1. There are only 4 membership packages remaining for this school year, so check with Mr. Austin to get your piece of Westlake school history. Any one is welcome to come out and join the fun.

NJHS-there will be a meeting today after school in Mrs. Smith room to discuss, initiation, elections and Centennial field day. All members should plan on attending.

The kitchen and the cafe will be making some changes for the remainder of this year and next year. Starting today you will be serving all vegetable and fruit yourselves. We are getting a jump start on "going green" for next year. Beginning May 5th the ala cart line will be closed and you will pay the cashier first and then get your food. All the lines have the same food. Blackjack and Subway will be served in the two end lines. All these changes will remain in effect next year as well. Starting May 8th-no more lunch charges.

Austin Willeke holds the top tag for the Westlake Chains disc golf club. Everyone else in the club will be competing for the number one. Come on out and Join the club Tuesday after school in the front lobby. Check with Mr. Austin about club membership packages. Guests are welcome to check out a loaner set and enjoy the fun.

Thanks to all the teams that have competed in the Battle of the Books! The winners of our first round are Teams #4 -- the Book Babes and Team # 6 Biomarts! The final round will be held on Thursday, April 10th and the winners head to the district meet next week! Congratulations!!

Congratulations to the 9 eighth grade students who participated in the district honor choir on Saturday. These students joined other talented choir students from all across the district to rehearse and perform with a guest clinician. Those students were: Seirra Allred, Maria Benedetto, Mariah Beren, Stephanie Byers, Sara Chen
Christina Lo, Tyra Manning, Tiana Threlkel, Samantha Vang
They did a GREAT job and represented Westlake well! Be sure to congratulate those students when you see them!

The CHAINS, disc golf club will no longer be on Thursday after school. It will be moved to Tuesdays. Come out and join the club. There are discs for loan or a membership package. Battle of the Books competitors: Please return your signed yellow forms to the library as soon as possible. Our first round starts this Friday, April 4th ... teams 1 and 5. Due to a scheduling conflict, Monday teams 2 and 4 will be at 9:42 - 10:15 and Teams 3 and 6 will compete from 10:20 until 10:50. Please make this change on your yellow form and get your teacher's approval. Our final elimination round will still be on April 10th! The district BOB competition will be here at Westlake on April 16th! So let the Battle begin!!
