Students: today is an B day.

Teachers: Supervision Team D should be on duty this week

SCHOOL DAY: Students: During the school day, all outside doors except the door by the main office are kept locked for our safety. If you are near an outside door during the day, please do not open the door for visitors. All visitors need to check-in at the main office before going out into our school.

Students, remember, you must have your ID with you and visible at all times during the school day and at all school activities. All students should be wearing their ID's around their neck. Your ID will be needed to check out library and text books, to ride district buses and at breakfast and lunch time in the cafeteria. If you need a replacement Westlake ID, you can now stop by the counseling office to have a new ID made, if you have free time during the school day or after school. Cost for a replacement ID is $5.

Please be sure you are dressed appropriately for school every day. Details of the dress code can be found on page 8 of your student planner. Please note that the three finger rule is not in there.

Students If you lost your planner, it will cost you $5.00 to replace it....you can go to the counseling office or main office to purchase a replacement.

--Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at lunch
--Everyday after school
--Tues, Wed, and Thursdays before school @ 8:00
Unfortunately last week some items from the school store were stolen. Because of this some new rules needed to be added to the school store. All students must have their Warrior Bucks out to enter the store. Only 2 students will be allowed into the store at a time. You must sign each of your Warrior Bucks with your first and last name. You must show your ID at the time of purchase. If you come before school you must enter the cafeteria through the outside doors on the south side of the building, by the tennis courts. Students are not allowed in the hallways until the admittance bell rings. Each month there will be drawings for candy and gift cards if you do not want to visit the store. At the end of each Trimester, there will be Grand Prize drawings for spectacular prizes. To enter any of the drawings, you need to print your first and last name clearly on your Warrior Bucks and put then into the box that matches the prize you want. The Drawing Boxes are in the main office.

CLUBS: It's Tuesday so come on out and join the Disc Warriors, Westlake's flying disc golf club after school today. D.J. Sedilla has the top tag. Come out and see if you can beat him and take his tag. There will be prizes for ring of fire and tags will be up for grabs! Any and All guests are welcome to check out loaner discs to throw. The disc Warriors will meet in the front lobby after school today.

MESA, MESA, MESA!! We are back for another year of fun!! MESA is a great before school program for 6th, 7th and 8th graders interested in teamwork, building cool things, competing, math, engineering and fun. Our first meeting will be next Thurs, Oct 15th @ 7:45 in Mrs. Haupt's room, that's room B101, in the science hallway. Mrs. Haupt & Mr. Laird will be expecting you!

ATHLETICS: The Westlake Warriors defeated the Niver Creek Eagles 23 - 8 last night at Warrior Stadium. Dominating from the kickoff, the Warriors played unrelenting defense and precision offense. Scoring touchdowns for the Warriors were T.J. Martin, Josh Borschers, and Joe Ernst. Points after touchdown were scored by Mikey Straface and Taten Ptersian on passing and rushing plays. Drew Hebel kicked a point after which was the first kicked point after in at least five years here at Westlake. The Warriors finished the season with a record of 3 and 5.

Students, there is a $100 reward being offered for information leading to the conclusion of the graffiti incidents last week. Please see an administrator before or after school or during lunch if you have information. Students also a reminder to take pride in your school. These types of incidents will not be tolerated.

IB, a comprehensive educational program that emphasizes integrated, holistic and rigorous education, is also a tremendous opportunity for students to receive outstanding preparation for college and beyond. For more information about International Baccalaureate, you and your parents are invited to attend the information session, hosted by the IB coordinator, Roger Dowd, after school in the cafeteria today. Mr. Austin in counseling also has information.

Students and Staff: Order a yearbook today! It’s going to be glamorous! The price is $30 – Order forms are in the office.

Be sure to write your first and last name AND your grade level on each of the Warrior Bucks before you place them into the Drawing boxes. ATHLETICS

The Westlake Warriors lost last night to Silver Hills 12 - 8. The Warriors played tough defense and had a great drive late in the first half to take a half-time lead 8 - 6 on a touchdown by Drew Hebel and the points-after on a pass play to Josh Borchers from Mikey Straface. The scoring play was set up by a long pass play to Joe Ernst. The defense was led by Travis Ebbs with 6 solo tackles. Brandon Tortorello and Brody DeBoer also had strong defensive games. The jv team won their contest 6 - 0 on a touchdown by DJ (Dylan Jones).

Monday Night Football saw the Westlake Warriors playing Rocky Top, here at home. The Warriors fought valiantly, but lost to the Grizzlies 24 - 6. Kevin Evansted scored the lone touchdown for the Warriors. Next up is Silver Hills here at home on Wednesday night, September 30, at 4:30 p.m.

The Westlake girls softball team finished the season on Saturday by defeating the Storm from SilverHills 14 -9 in the opening game of the tournament. Than fell to both the Grizzlies and the Comets to finish with a 5 and 5 record and 4th in both the season and the tournament.

All softball uniforms need to be washed and returned to coach Austin. All items of the uniform, including jersey, pants, shorts, and belt must be turned in at the same time.

Congratulations to the Warrior football team for their 40-24 win over the Niver Creek Eagles last night at Five Star Stadium. The Warriors dominated both sides of the ball from the opening kickoff. Scoring touchdowns for the Warriors were: Kevin Evansted, Taten Ptersian, Josh Borchers, Andrew Hebel, and Joe Ernst. Points after touchdown were scored by Kevin Evansted, T J Martin, and Mikey Straface. Christian Wiedorf had a fumble recovery and Luis Rubio recorded a sack. Everyone on the team contributed! Way to go, Warriors!! The Warriors are now 1 & 1 and are on the road again Wednesday against Thornton at Thornton.

Congratulations to the Lady Warriors Softball teams for their win over the Thornton Cougars last night.

Westlake's football team played visiting Shadow Ridge at Westlake Stadium last night. In a hard fought battle, Shadow Ridge overcame Westlake's speed and strength and defeated the Warriors 16 to 14. Battling from behind, the Warriors never gave up and fought hard to the bitter end, leaving everything they had on the field. The two Westlake touchdowns were scored by tailback Taten Ptersian behind great blocking by the offensive line and fullback Kevin Evansted. Quarterback Andrew Hebel and tightend Brody DeBoer connected on several pass completions. Defensive ends, Josh Borchers and Travis Ebbs, did a great job of containing the outside running game of Shadow Ridge.
The Warriors next play Niver Creek, on Monday at Five-Star Stadium, and Thornton on Wednesday at Thornton.

Sports
The Westlake Warriors football team will play their first game of the season tonight here at Westlake. They will face off against the Shadow Ridge Rams. Come out and support this group of athletes tonight - as the game is here at Westlake, admission will be free!!

The Lady Warriors softball teams will play the Niver Creek Eagles on Thursday, Sept. 10. Come out and support these athletes at the Larry Walker softball fields near Rocky Top Middle School. No admission is charged for softball games, so you can definitely afford this one!

It's that time of year to get one of the most exciting clubs at Westlake started. Disc golf is played like ball golf but flying frisbees called discs are thrown at chain basket targets.

The Disc Warriors, Westlake's disc golf club, will start the year with a brief business meeting then a short round of disc golf and ring of fire.

Anyone is welcome to come out after school on Tuesday, September 8th and see what the fun is all about. We will be meeting in the lobby then move to a classroom for the meeting. Old members bring your discs. guests and potential new members can check out discs for use.
