Westlake Parents and Families:

Thank you to the parents and families who attended Back to School Night! We had an outstanding turnout which is indicative of the tremendous support Westlake has from parents. Parent involvement is a key component in a school’s success and to student success, so thank you for playing such a pivotal role in that area. Hopefully the night gave you an insight to the exceptional staff at Westlake and to the high standards that have been set for your students.

Many parents asked about volunteer opportunities at Westlake. If you are interested in volunteering at Westlake, please contact Assistant Principal Ron Hruby (720-972-5204). He can provide you with information regarding what opportunities are available for you to volunteer in the classroom and beyond. Westlake’s School Improvement Team (SIT) is another avenue through which parents can become involved. As it did last year, the school improvement team will meet the third Tuesday of the month in the school library/media center at 4 p.m. The meeting dates are as follows:

September 15
October 20
November 17
February 16
April 20

The school improvement team provides parents a forum through which to provide input and to receive information pertaining to student achievement, curriculum, school safety, and school accountability. This is also a forum for parents to provide feedback regarding various aspects of the school and district. Please contact me if you have questions regarding Westlake’s School Improvement Team.

CSAP results are in for last spring and WLMS continues to make exceptional growth in all areas. Even though Westlake made significant gains in student growth and achievement, we will continue to raise the expectations for ourselves and for students. We are in the process of setting achievement goals and improving our instructional practices for the benefit of your children.

Thank you for your continued support of Westlake Middle School! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions, comments, or concerns.

Sincerely,

Jessica Fiedler
Principal
