8th Graders and Their Families Can Learn More at High School Nights

Adams 12 Five Star Schools is extremely proud of the variety of choices offered for quality, advanced academic programming available at each of its high schools. Our program offerings include the following range of options for your motivated students:

  • Horizon: the SOAR Honors program is a four-year, individualized & comprehensive program designed to enlighten, enrich, and excite students and prepare leaders for success in the post-secondary setting. The SOAR program provides structure and support for high-achieving students to prepare for college leadership. Contact Dawn Schafer at 720.972.4457 or dawn.schafer@adams12.org
  • Legacy: Legacy 2000 is a challenging and supportive four-year STEM program which guides students to improve their networking, leadership, research, writing, and public speaking skills.  Students complete a job shadow and career practicum during their junior and senior years, respectively. Graduates of Legacy 2000 are well poised to excel in any college setting and in any work environment. Contact Amy Stern at 720.972.6792 or amy.stern@adams12.org.
  • Mountain Range: the High School of Business™ program is an accelerated college program that prepares students to be leaders and competitors in our 21st Century Workplace and in our global society.  The program prepares students to work in business and economics while working towards fluency in a World Language. Students in the program are dual-enrolled in high school and college and have the opportunity to earn 21 college credits. Contact Hilary Wimmer at 720.972.6477 or  hilary.wimmer@adams12.org.

  • Northglenn:
    • The STEM Pathways program is a student-centered environment rich in questioning and inquiry, where students have frequent opportunities to apply engineering design and problem-solving processes to authentic, contextual problems. Students can explore careers in Engineering and Biomedical Sciences alongside industry partners, earn college credit, and achieve industry certifications that prepare them for future success. Successful students also gain admission to Metro State University, Western State University, and CU Boulder’s Engineering program. More information contact Eric Holtz: 720.972.4691 | eric.e.holtz@adams12.org or Allison Dopler: 720.972.4689 | Allison.L.Dopler@adams12.org

    • P-TECH at Northglenn STEM program is an innovative partnership between Adams 12 Five Star Schools, Front Range Community College, CableLabs, Solid Power, and the City of Northglenn, where students are able to earn a free associate's degree in Computer Information Systems. Students begin in 9th grade and finish their degree at FRCC. As such, students graduate with both a high school diploma and an industry-recognized associate degree, industry certificates, and relevant workplace skills. Contact Todd Corn at 720.972.4629 or todd.corn@adams12.org.

    • Junior ROTC at Northglenn: We are excited to share that beginning in the 2026-27 school year, Northglenn High School will be the host site for the U.S. Army JROTC program for all Adams 12 high schools.  Army JROTC is open to students from across all district high schools.  It provides opportunities to:  Build leadership, teamwork, and confidence. There is no military service requirement. Contact Maryjel Cochrane at maryjel.p.cochrane@adams12.org with questions.

  • Thornton HS: The Trojan ODYSSEY allows students to "chart their own course" towards graduation through an individualized pathway. Students will map out their experience, weaving together Advanced Placement (AP) coursework, Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathways, Concurrent Enrollment (CE) options, and post-secondary preparation to create a learning experience that reflects their unique goals and passions. The THS ODYSSEY emphasizes exploration and flexibility and, like any great journey, provides support, guidance, and opportunities at every step, ensuring students are well-prepared for wherever their path leads. A few specific examples of this support include Freshmen Foundations and the Newcomer Center. Contact Wes Brown at 720.972.2843 or bro029872@adams12.org.

  • Five Star Online Academy (FSOA) provides students with the opportunity to engage in a flexible, rigorous, and engaging learning experience right at a student’s fingertips.  This expanded virtual model includes weekly face-to-face virtual classes, virtual and in-person learning labs/tutoring, and optional in-person enrichment activities. FSOA will NOT be represented at High School Information Night.

All Adams 12 incoming 9th graders who reside within the Adams 12 boundaries are eligible to apply for all of the above programs, regardless of their attendance area boundaries. For the 2026-2027 School year, based on current enrollment, Legacy will not be accepting applications to their specialized programs from students who reside outside of the district. Northglenn, Horizon, Mountain Range and Thornton High Schools will accept applications from out-of-district students. As a result, families do not need to submit a choice application if applying directly to one of these specific programs.

We encourage you to get to know each of these programs better to determine the best fit for your child by attending High School Information Nights on November 17 & 18. (Schools will simultaneously present during each of the two sessions.)
