Westlake Middle School Community Liaison has heart
The Five Star District is so thankful to have staff that helps us accomplish our goal of elevating student success in every classroom, every day. When these same staff members are recognized and celebrated by others in the Five Star Community, we are beyond proud of them.
Veronica Martinez, Community Outreach Liaison at Westlake Middle School, works with students and families daily to help connect them with the necessary resources for success. As a bilingual liaison, Martinez is able to extend her reach to students and families who may not feel comfortable communicating in English. Martinez has also championed a community resource closet that provides clothes, supplies, and even food. All of these efforts have led Martinez to be recognized and awarded the 2022 Heart of Broomfield Education Award.
“It really just has me speechless,” Martinez said. “I don’t do this for gratification or recognition, so I feel very honored and very humbled to be chosen for this award. It makes me really proud.”
