DISTANCE LEARNING INFORMATION:
Hi Parents and Students!
We're about to start a new venture together. Let's remember the Weslake Way. All parts apply - let's be kind, respectful and invested. This will mean we need to be honest with each other, deal with concerns immediately and respectfully, and work to do the best we can to finish out the year.
A few tidbits to start:
Assignments will go out via my google classroom on each Friday, to be completed by the following Friday. Attendance will be taken on Fridays based on all work being completed. If work is not complete, calls will go home to parents between Friday and Monday.
I will have virtual office hours daily from 10-11 and 3-4. Anyone can email me firstname.lastname@example.org , or text me (preferred) or call at 720.340.2292.
I look forward to this new journey with you!
Hi 8th Grade Avengers! I'm Ms. McWilliams! (You can call me McWild. Just McWild. No Ms.)
My background is in colleges and universities, high school and 8th grade. My Master's degree is from Columbia University in College Student Personnel Administration, and my B.A. was a dual major in English and Journalism from James Madision University. I have taught or worked at The Juilliard School, Rice University, American University, The University of Calgary, The University of Guelph, Wichita State University, and high school in Stuart, Florida.
I'm so excited to work at Westlake in my new home of Colorado. I recently moved here from Florida, where I taught high school English, SAT Prep, Journalism/yearbook and Intensive Reading for ten years. I'm so happy to be in the land of four seasons again.
While my professional background began in colleges and universities, I've now worked in both high school and middle school. My main job, other than teaching English, is preparing my 8th graders - as much as I can - for high school. Having been a high school teacher for so long, I know what my 8th graders need to flourish. It can be a tough transition, and I want my students to feel ready, confident and competent.

To go to my class slides that we use every day, please click HERE. Dates are separated by purple separators. If you're looking for our vocab used weekly for latin word chunks, see the first slide and click the link.
I am here for any concerns or issues you may have, so please don't hesitate to contact me at email@example.com.
I look forward to working with you all toward a successful year!
