Empowering students to have a positive growth mindset and encouraging them to see their successes is why Ms. Quarles loves education. It is a great pleasure of hers to join the Westlake staff as an assistant principal. She began her teaching journey, in 2005, as an adjunct professor at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. In 2007, she joined Plattsburgh City School District as a middle school science teacher. For the past 3 years, she has taught at a Title 1 urban high school in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. In addition to teaching, her experience includes being a teacher leader, a professional learning community (PLC) lead, a professional development leader and a teacher union representative. Born and raised in Kansas, she attended the University of Kansas and then transferred to the State University of New York at Plattsburgh earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a Masters of Science in Adolescence Education. In July 2018, she graduated from Queens University School of Executive Leadership earning her administration licensure. She enjoys spending time with her partner, Kristin, in their new home with their silky terrier. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, hiking, sailing and spending time with family. Ms. Quarles is proud to join the Westlake family and looks forward to contributing to our students journey in reaching their full potential.
