Committed to ensuring that all students are given high-quality educational opportunities, Dr. Heide works to develop the capacity of the school community in order to enhance the understanding and the implementation of instructional best practices facilitating the improvement of student outcomes. A dedicated educator from Colorado, Dr. Heide was a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal and currently serves as Principal at Westlake Middle School. After completing her research for her dissertation entitled Culture and the Classroom: Teachers' Perspectives of Ethnic and Racial Culture in the Middle School Classroom, Dr. Heide was asked to present her work at the 2011 CDE Summit on Dropout Prevention and Student Engagement. Dr. Heide also serves as a member of distinguished faculty in the new competency based principal preparation program at Regis University having been asked to co-write and instruct a course on Educational Policy. Dr. Heide was awarded the 2016 Colorado Assistant Principal of the Year by the Colorado Association of School Executives.
